Abstract
Nothing Significant to Report is a collection of literary nonfiction, prose poetry, and hybrid multi-genre work recounting the author’s experiences as an enlisted infantry rifleman in the United States Marine Corps from 2009-2013. Centering the author’s two deployments to Helmand Province, Afghanistan during the waning years of Operation Enduring Freedom, Nothing Significant to Report seeks to function as both reportage and remembrance across its collage of different literary forms and styles, presenting an unflinching memoir-in-fragments reflecting the multi-layered complexities and contradictions of the Afghan War as well as themes of post-traumatic loss and growth during and after military service.
