The Department of Curriculum and Instruction sought to prepare transformative leaders in teaching, learning, and curriculum, focusing on three areas of education: Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary.

History
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction was formed in 1990 as a result of the merger of the Department of Elementary Education and the Department of Secondary Education. In 2012 it merged with the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies to form the School of Education.
