Abstract

In June of 1967, an Iowa cattle feeder called a veterinarian to examine his herd of thirty 900-pound Angus steers. The owner had told the veterinarian that one steer had died of an apparent acute bloat, and that three other steers of this herd were showing similar symptoms.
